Biography
Henno Käo (January 10, 1942 – July 2, 2004) was an Estonian children's writer, book illustrator, poet, and musician. He was born in the village of Allikalahe in Saare County. In 1964 he graduated from Tartu Art School in decorative art. From 1975 to 1978 he studied at Villu Toots' school of calligraphy. From 1963 to 1968 he worked for Tallinnfilm, being an artist on puppet films. From 1969 to 1982, he was an artist at Directorate of Recreational Parks of Tallinn. From 1991 he was a member of Estonian Writers' Union. He was one of the founders of the folk-rock group Peoleo.
Known For
Estonian/Soviet animation short. Monkey boy Fips is trapped and brought to town. Among humans, Fips experiences both good and bad. But he never forgets his real home - the jungle - and one day he escapes back there.

The Birth of the Genre
The famous chief of the corsairs Bloody John brings the lovely Isabella back as war booty from yet another foray. The avaricious Isabella shortly seizes power in the gang. Bloody John is reduced to a weak-willed, henpecked subordinate of the female robber. The desperate John escapes and seeks shelter in his dear childhood home in Saaremaa, where he starts earning a living again by honest means.

The children living in a large apartment building look for something to do and start throwing knives. The kids' joy is spoiled by a big boy who breaks their knife while grinning. Miraculously, a small tree grows near the building.
