The story is set in the fictional city of Albuquerque, in the interior of São Paulo, in the early 1960s – a time marked by changing behaviors in much of the world. There, young people enjoy the sounds of rock and twist on the dance floors, follow the fashion of jeans and leather jackets, and show off on Lambrettas and motorcycles through the city streets. In this context, Maria Tereza, a student teacher, dreams of living in the capital and being elected Miss Brazil, but clashes with her boyfriend, João. Brasileiros e Brasileiras is a Brazilian telenovela shown in some schedules SBT between November 5, 1990 and May 14, 1991. Writing for the show was done by Carlos Alberto Sofredini and Walter Avancini, who also directed it. The show was a co-production of the Miksom.

Carlos is a young man from the São Paulo middle class who works for a big company during a time when foreign automobile industries were settling in Brazil. Shortly after, he accepts a job at a factory that makes automobile parts, where he becomes manager. To a certain extent, he is a family man who works hard, earns well and lives unsatisfied. Without any prospects in his life to change the condition he rejects, his last resort is escaping.

Man finds a job as a dog catcher, but feels sorry for the animals and sets them free.

A young woman lives a blend of reality and fantasy, actively participating in the games of the wealthy and carefree youth of São Paulo/Guarujá. In love with a Portuguese actor, she envisions a great romantic relationship.
