Saadawi, Fattouh and Azab, prisoners in Abu Zaabal prison after serving their sentence, decide to repent of a life of crime, and after they get out of prison, they find themselves in a confrontation with teacher Abdul Razek, who refuses to restore the rights to Azab.

(Abu Al-Layl) is a mysterious person who wears a mask on his face and no one knows who he is. He moves with a dog and completely controls the people of a town, and makes them carry out what he orders them to do whatever it is, because of their intense fear of him and the only one who can communicate with (Abu Al-Layl) whenever she wants She is (Duha) because of an affair between them, and (Ahmed) tries to do everything in his power to find out who (Abu Al-Layl) is and rid the town of its evils.

Safia is a beautiful girl from the countryside, who is loved by two men: Rashwan, the mayor's son, and Hamid, the poor young man. Her father approves her marriage to Rashwan, but Rashwan soon changes his mind, as he tries to get close to Hamdiya, Hamid's sister.

The story takes place before the Revolution of 1952 and follows the continuous conflict between farmers and a feudal pasha. After the farmers gather in front of the pasha's palace, objecting to the destruction of their crop, and after the death of Gaber, Awad gets convicted and serves a sentence in prison, and following his release, he seeks revenge on his father's murderer.
