Four Swedish volunteer soldiers are trapped in Russia. In front of them lies the front with enemy outposts and patrols, behind them the enemy minefields. Hope to return to their own lines decreases each day. Corpses of fallen, "dead of cold and hard as iron", forms the macabre landmarks in the winter landscape. Nearby is a burnt Russian village.
In the end of 1939, the Soviet Union attacks Finland. In Sweden, 100.000 men are quickly drafted to guard the northeastern border. Men, who have almost no military training, are suddenly expected to behave as full-fledged soldiers. In one of the units we find 107 Andersson, 111 Loffe and a bunch of men with nicknames as Morsgrisen and Stora Norrland. After some months, the war in Finland is over, but World War II continues and the unit moves to the western border of Sweden, where the men have to stay for many years to come. Sweden is not at war, but some of the men are frightened that the Nazis will one day attack this country.

For several decades, Dirch Passer was by far the most popular Danish revue and film comedian. He had enormous popular appeal, which did not diminish as a result of his untimely death at the age of just 54. Dirch Passer appeared in around 100 films in just under 30 years and was one of the country's most prolific actors. In 1974, he even received a BODIL award for best leading role in "Mig og mafiaen" (Me and the Mafia). Another World Entertainment presents "BlÄjakkerne" on Danish DVD for the first time. The film, which came about as a result of a collaboration between the great comedian and Swedish director Arne Mattson, is typical Dirch Passer entertainment, in which Denmark's happy man travels to its northern neighbor and becomes entangled in a myriad of cheerful episodes. If you like Danish folk comedy, you can't go wrong with "BlÄjakkerne."
