Klovn is a Danish sitcom, which first aired on the Danish TV channel TV2 Zulu. It focuses on the life of the main character Frank and Casper. The show builds its comedy around quiet everyday situations, social awkwardness, uncomfortable silences and general faux pas. Klovn usually gets compared to the American sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm by Larry David. It’s also shot handheld, in a pseudo-realistic style. Some have also mistakenly compared the theme to Curb Your Enthusiasm’s, despite it being a direct reference to Jacques Tati’s Mr. Hulot movies. The poster for the first film can be seen in Casper and Frank’s offices throughout the series. Klovn initially ran 6 seasons on TV2 Zulu from 2005-2009 and was renewed with an additional 3 seasons that aired from 2018-2022.

In three long, uninterrupted one-takes shot over a single summer’s day and night, the camera moves slowly through the park while the guests alternately react to the lens or try to ignore it. A gang of Pierrot clones mingle with the visitors. The film is an joint creation between students of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Danish Film School, initiated independently by the students. Using Bakken as a frame - historically, architecturally and socially - all the contributors helped develop the concept for both the film and the performative interventions in front of the camera, which are sometimes inseparable from the hedonistic and condensed semi-fictional universe that an amusement park is.

Laura and Malik are tired of being in an insecure and indefinable love affair. They are therefore part of a cinematic experiment to find out whether they should call themselves boyfriends or go their separate ways. With the help of others in the same situation, they reconstruct episodes from the four years they have been together, record them in the real locations, and show them to each other in a movie theater. Through the movies-in-the-movie, Laura and Malik rediscover each other and confront their demons to find out why they can neither escape nor give in to each other. But in the end, they have to make a final decision.
