Rabindranath Maitra

Deciding to start a school for girls named after his wife, a zamindar looks for a married couple to manage the establishment. They apply for and get the job. The two are not actually married; they posed as a couple to obtain the job. After a series of complications and delicate situations, love blooms between the two and they marry.

Manash and Niharika fail to secure a job after repeated attempts. When they decide to pose as a couple, they find employment at Manmayee Girls School, run by a couple in a village.

Rao and Mary, unemployed college graduates from Madras, act as if they are a married couple to get jobs as schoolteachers in the small village of Appapuram. Their story unfolds into an extremely hilarious comedy as they try to cover up that Mary is a christian. They are assisted in their drama by Devaiah, a friend and ex-beggar, in fooling the family they work for.

A comedy adapted from a successful play. The zamindar Damodar Chakraborty (Chakraborty) starts a school named after his wife and recruits a married couple as teachers. Manas (Ganguly in the role which had made him a stage star) and Niharika (Kanan Devi) pretend to be married in order to get the jobs. Their imposture, together with the fact that he is Hindu while she is Christian, produces complications.
