A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and traitorous lord of Rohan seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan, and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg.

The film takes place early in the events of The Fellowship of the Ring — specifically in the gap between Bilbo’s 111th birthday celebration and Gandalf’s return to Bag End after confirming that Frodo possesses the One Ring. During this unseen period, Aragorn and Gandalf secretly hunt for Gollum before Sauron’s forces can find him first. The story centers largely on Gollum’s perspective, following his flight, paranoia, and survival as multiple powers race to track him down.

Sarah grows up with mentally ill parents, and an unexpected pregnancy pushes her toward what she thinks is a normal life with her boyfriend. A frightening episode causes her mental state to fray until she uncovers the truth behind her delusions.
