Biography
Born in 1994 in Saigon, Vietnam, Nguyen Le Hoang Phuc is a film director and editor. After his first year as an undergraduate at Van Lang University in the Faculty of English, Phuc fell in love with filmmaking and quit college to pursue the art of cinema. Starting as a video and film editor, for the past five years, Phuc has taken different roles for various projects, ranging from TVCs to feature films. In 2020, Phuc made his debut short film ‘No Country for Smokers’, which took inspirations from the new regulations on films showing smoking scenes, and reflected the inner life of Vietnamese youths. He is now finishing his second film "LIttle Tomb On The Prairie", a continuation in his pursuit of the dark comedy genre. The project has been developed with the support of UNESCO's On The Reel program. The release is set for late 2022.

Heroes in Danger
In this non-dialogue tale, taking place along the coast of Vietnam, a mermaid is rescued from the fish market by a fisherman. As the hero carries her back to the ocean, they are joined by two jolly seahorses. Upon her wake at the beach, the mermaid performs a sensual dance. But her joy is cut short: the waves have other plans.
Buoyant
When Van was healthy, she grew flowers in the garden and led a happy life, but now she has only a few months left to live. Since she doesn′t even have the strength to hold a pen, she records the last words for her daughters with voice messages on a cell phone. In the meantime, family’s debts are increasing due to Van’s medical expenses and the family’s living expenses, Van’s husband tries to clear the debt by trading his kidney, and Van’s heart sinks when she finds out about it.
Memento Mori: Earth
A released convict returns home to the news of his older brother's passing and receives the urn containing his ashes. Wandering through a seaside town, he contemplates his next steps in life. Out of nowhere, a strange fairy emerges from a pinwheel, offering unexpected companionship and lightening his journey up with playful antics.
