Zhang Miaoxin (Wu Yongwei), Zhongjing's eldest daughter, is in love with Tuo and is determined to marry and flee with her husband.

Inspired by the American series, "Desperate Housewives", the show features three pairs of couples and the roles women play in these relationships: A couple with a seven-year age gap; an ambitious couple who begins to realize the consequences of climbing the corporate ladder; and a traditional couple conflicted between the traditional and modern stereotypes of women in society.

Summer Heat is a TVB modern suspense series released overseas in January 2004 and broadcast on TVB Jade Channel in June 2006.

The story is set in the 1960s Hong Kong. The sincere Ko Tai Hei smuggles to Hong Kong, where his father's good friend Kam Lo Yik recommended him to join the police force. One time, he had an accident and got shot in the head. Pieces of the bullet went into his brain cells and oddly increased his IQ significantly. Since then, Hei turned into an intelligent detective capable of cracking down strange cases. However, his personality changed as well, turning him into a cold-hearted person who will do things by unscrupulous means.

Fan Tung (Liu Kai Chi) is one of the four deities under the Stove God. He has offended the Queen Mother of the West of being ravenous and gets imprisoned for 500 years in the winter melon. To prove his worth to Wong Sau-ying, his ideal lover, he cross dresses as a beauty in a lantern festival so he can get closer to her. Sau-ying's older brother, Tiger Wong, sees Man-bun's beauty and kidnaps him home. A Bride for a Ride consists of elements of Cantonese opera. Chin Kar-lok, who stars as Tiger Wong, is also the drama's action choreographer.
