Pierre ou, Les ambiguïtés (Pierre or, The Ambiguities) is a 2001 three-part French miniseries created and written by Leos Carax, an alternate, extended version of his 1999 film Pola X ('Pola' is the acronym of 'Pierre ou les ambiguïtés'.). Both entities are based on Herman Melville's 1852 Gothic novel of the same name. A writer leaves his upper-class life and journeys with a woman claiming to be his sister, and her two friends.

Yasemin is a 17-year old Turkish girl who lives with her parents in Hamburg-Altona, Germany. While her mother and father accept that Yasemin has her own German friends, they also expect her to honor the traditions of their country of origin. The arrival of Jan, a German student aged 21, throws this situation into conflict.

Águst Guðmundsson directed this Icelandic period drama, adapted from the short story We Must Dance by William Heinesen, and set on an island in 1913. Pétur (Gunnar Helgason) narrates, recalling the days when mainlanders arrived for a wedding. Flirtatious Sirsa (Pálína Jónsdottir) marries Harald (Dofri Hermannsson), son of a wealthy landowner on the island. Offshore, a ship is sinking, so the men form a rescue party, returning with the captain, the engineer, and several sailors. With a storm gathering, the engineer dies. The clergyman requests an end to the festivities as a mark of respect. Sirsa protests, but her new husband brings the celebration to a halt. The group then fragments into different activities, drunken or otherwise, and the sensual Sirsa directs her attention toward the handsome Ívar (Baldur Trausti Hreinsson). The film's score features traditional folk music.

A moose has been spotted on the Elbe. It has strayed into Germany from the far north. Two city boys are after the animal. One of them just wants to photograph the moose, the other wants to kill it. Without knowing about each other at first, they travel all over Germany in pursuit of the moose. At some point they meet and, realizing that the moose is hopelessly at the mercy of an unknown world, the two tentatively become friends. Finally, after the animal has strayed as far as the highway and Frankfurt airport, they decide to give the animal the coup de grace...

The western film that was filmed in Bavaria is located in the Montana Mountains. At the end of the 19th century, an Indian Boy called Tschetan meets the shepherd Alaska in the Montana Mountains. Alaska prevents him from being hanged as a cattle thief but from then on engages him as a deputy shepherd and forces him to do hard work. But when they have to fight against a powerful stock farmer together, they eventually become friends.

The film is about a ship that is abandoned by its owners in the port of Hamburg, about its crew, who find themselves in a rather desperate situation, and about a journalist whose talent is little appreciated by television, but all the more appreciated by a secret service agent.
