Under threat of eviction, an old man hides himself inside his flat, ready for anything - except the cruel twist of fate that will force him to reassess his whole life.

“I approached Pierluigi Cappello when he became my bedside table companion. We didn’t know each other, but were already intimate. His poems are full of images, I might even have dreamt some. I didn’t know anything about his personal life, about the motorcycle accident when he was sixteen, and that he spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair. There’s no trace of it in the poems: in his verses Pierluigi runs, and sometimes he flies.”

A summer day in Italy. The camera follows the deaf-mute Giacomo and a childhood girlfriend Stefi closely – in the woods, by the river – without wanting to disrupt the mystery of their relationship, between restrained sensuality and childhood games.

The Japanese expression 'Ichi-go Ichi-e', in a broader sense, we can translate it as 'the encounter of a lifetime'. With a person, with a situation but also with a country, demonstrating how cultural distances can be overcome.
