But when the baddies, led by Cruella de Vil, discover that they have not been invited, they steal the Queen's handbag containing her spectacles and the text of her speech; without it, the Queen will not be able to make a speech at the party. Watchdog is a BBC television series that investigates viewers' reports of problematic experiences with traders, retailers, and other companies around the UK. It has had great success in changing the awareness consumers have of their purchasing rights and in changing policies of companies, closing down businesses, and pushing for law changes. It is shown on BBC One and is available for online viewing or download via BBC iPlayer.

Scene is a British television anthology drama/documentary series made by the BBC for teenagers. Featuring plays on topical issues as well as documentaries, sometimes of a controversial nature, and by leading contemporary playwrights, programs were originally broadcast to a school audience as part of the BBC Schools strand. Dramas from the series were also regularly broadcast for a wider adult audience. Nick Ross presents a reconstruction of the police investigation into the murder of 14-year-old runaway Jason Swift, which led to the uncovering of a sinister paedophile ring. Within days of the discovery of Jason's body, the hunt was on for the killer of another boy, later identified as 6-year-old Barry Lewis. The bodies of both boys showed traces of the kind of tranquillisers commonly used by paedophiles. Leads from Wandsworth prison eventually revealed that the ring may have been involved with as many as 20 murders of young boys. Next week's programme reconstructs the painstaking follow-on investigation called Operation Orchid.
