Plot revolves around the post-war decades and tells about the fate of former participants of the Great Patriotic War - Vera Boglyuk, Nina Verkhovskaya, Dusya Koroleva, Zina Skvortsova and Natasha Druzhinina.

Young lawyer Sergei Krasheninnikov is assigned to a case involving the death of a young woman. As he questions people who saw her on the day she died, Sergei begins to realize that there is much more to the story than meets the eye.

Merab, a Georgian taxi driver who mistakenly crosses into Israel while seeing off his Jewish brother, Yasha, gets stuck without documents. He gets entangled in bureaucratic nightmares, mistaken identity, and KGB plots while trying to return home.

Three boys and a girl go to another city to search for the father of one of them in order to get money from him as compensation for leaving the family. On the way they meet the homeless man Petrovich, and this meeting makes them think about many things.

Pavel Nabatnikov, who fought in Afghanistan, returns to his village, determined to build a new house on his parents' ashes as the first step towards revitalizing the abandoned village.
