Italy, March 16, 1978. Aldo Moro, president of Christian Democracy, the ruling party, is kidnapped by the extreme left-wing terrorist gang Red Brigades. While the criminals put him on trial and condemn him, the Italian government and Pope Paul VI pull their twisted strings to save his life.

An old film director, unhappy with the movie he's shooting about a Hungarian circus stranded in Rome during the 1956 anti-Soviet uprising, faces divorce from his producer wife and other problems.

Deva is a young girl marked by a painful choice: the abortion of a child. Her chance encounter with a child will give her back, through a journey of pain and love, that motherhood and that life that she seemed irremediably lost.

The film takes place over the course of a single night: the longest night of the year, between December 21 and 22 (the winter solstice), when the sun sets around 4:30 p.m. and rises the next day at 7:30 a.m. A long night in which the stories, destinies, anxieties, and dramas of a provincial town in the south (Potenza) intertwine, even if only briefly. Fifteen hours of uninterrupted darkness in which human destiny becomes exceptional, as the night causes the anchors of the day to be lost and four personal stories suddenly accelerate.

Caterina is in her 20s, her dream is to become a musician but she’s paralyzed by fear. One summer she meets her idol, the French singer Mia. It is the beginning of a complex and magnetic relationship that will accompany Caterina over the years and finally allow her to find home. Almost.
