With Sounds of Dortmund, Dortmund Opera picks up where MusiCircus left off in the 2018/19 season. Once again, musical groups and all Dortmund residents were invited to become part of the performative sound collage. For one day, Dortmund was to be filled with music, noises, sounds, and performances. A poetic sound art work that focuses on the diversity of the city with its individual sounds.

Mr. Kremer's life seems narrow and dreary on the outside - he is unemployed and lives in a tiny apartment in the middle of the city. But on the inside, he enters the portal to another world. A journey begins that he is less and less able to separate from the outside world. An inner voice guides him and makes him predict numbers, which often leads to bizarre situations. The atmospheric film allows the viewer to participate in both the protagonist's floating perception and the discovery of his inner dimension.

At least that’s how easy the young doctor Dr. Seder imagines it when he knocks on the door of the remote forest house after a long working day. But the bizarre old lady who takes care of her demented husband there doesn’t make it that easy for him. Inspired by the young man’s unexpected companionship, the lonely woman greedily clings to his closeness and hesitates to leave. Dr. Seder himself can hardly explain why he suddenly sits in the old woman’s beige wing chair with slippers on his feet and a steaming bowl of aunt Gretel’s pumpkin soup in his hand. But it was a long day and the soup tastes delicious. However, the old woman becomes more and more violent in her behaviour and for Dr. Seder the already strange situation becomes more and more disturbing. Even the soup suddenly gets a strange aftertaste…
