The story of the strange medical literature growing up with the motherland in the decades from the early years of the Republic of China to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
A reporter from the TV station went to Zhangtou Village, a remote mountain village known for monkey opera, arranged by colleagues Fang Hong and Xiaobin on the TV station to interview. However, after entering the village, many strange things happened to them one after another. Out of the professional instinct of discovering and revealing secrets, the three reporters went deep into the mountain forest to find out, but "Xiaoguang" suddenly went crazy and even disappeared, covering the mountain village with strange things with an unknown fear.
The story follows a child bride turned widow, Dou E, who is wrongly convicted of crimes by a corrupt court official for actions perpetrated by a rejected suitor, Mule Zhang. After her execution, three prophesied phenomena occur to prove her innocence, including blood raining from the sky, snow in June and a three-year drought. After a visit from the ghost of Dou E, her father eventually brings the corrupt court official, a doctor and Mule Zhang to justice, thereby vindicating his daughter.
After a countryside party, several friends vanish and Lin Man is the only witness. A psychiatrist, Fang Ziqing, slowly opens her up unraveling a long-buried secret and a moral struggle where one thought for good or evil decides the outcome.
