Lost film directed by Oleksandr Dovzhenko (his first film) and Favst Lopatynskyi. It is a satire of the NEP period. Vasia, the son of a factory’s worker, is attracted by the romance of adventures. And he goes to look for them. He saves a drowning drunkard who tries to beat him. Vasia escapes from him in a vehicle parked on the shore. However, the vehicle belongs to a superintendent who, when he does not find it, stages its theft. Meanwhile, Vasia exposes priests in the church. As a result, the church is turned into a cinema, and the priest becomes a cinema technician. And finally, Vasia’s last deed is catching a criminal at home and denouncing him to the militia.

To help out his friend Lenya, Yura steals a Stradivarius violin belonging to the professor from his grandfather, a violin maker. The film is set in one of the regions of Western Ukraine in the 1920s. A poor peasant, Vasyl, openly opposes the arbitrariness of the lord's authorities. While hunting in the lord's forest, he is captured by soldiers and imprisoned in a dungeon. His beloved girl Lesia, with the help of the villagers, opens the dam, and water begins to flood the manor. Amid the commotion, Vasyl escapes from his captivity.

A student intern, Dmitry Lopukhov, comes to the cable factory and quickly gains a reputation as a trustworthy guy. Soon he is appointed to the position of engineer to replace Shtokman, who has been accused of fraud. At the same time, Lopukhov befriends his former classmate, the son of the fired Stockman, and decides to achieve a "beautiful life" at any cost-one that is no worse than Stockman's. The news of his wife's pregnancy goes against his plans. He advises his wife to get rid of the child, but the offended Nina files for divorce. Lopukhov becomes entangled in his ties with Stockman, and under his influence, commits a crime.He is exposed. Nina, after graduating from the institute, returns to the factory and becomes a good specialist. 

In one of the small port towns, a boy named Vasya lives in a basement with his drunkard father and sister Ganusya. After a disagreement, his drunken friends kill his father. Ganusya is sent to a children's colony. Vasya joins a group of homeless people. One day, the leader of the homeless, Koska, and his friend, nicknamed Sailor, detain a girl, Alya, the daughter of the seaman Chugunov, on the street to get a ransom for her. But while Koska and Sailor negotiate with the father for a ransom, Vasya, who was assigned to watch over Alya, releases the girl and takes her to her father himself. The verdict of the homeless is unequivocal: this is treason.

Are there any children who do not dream of long journeys?.. No. So Vasya, the hero of the movie, went on a journey, got tired on the way and fell asleep in the open air. And he dreams that he is a great traveler and has accomplished a number of feats... But, unfortunately, the world is not so perfect: a group of pioneer tourists accidentally accommodates Vasya, brings him home, and Vasya's "wanderings and feats" come to an end.
