Biography
Anastasia Babenko is a Ukrainian writer/director based in Seattle, WA. Her debut short film The Diaper Cake received a Vimeo Staff Pick and played over twenty Oscar-qualifying film festivals around the globe, including Clermont-Ferrand IFF, Palm Springs ShortFest, Short Shorts & Asia, etc. Her new project Siren's Cove, was selected for Talents Sarajevo Script Lab 2023 and MIDPOINT Shorts 2024-2025 development program. The research for the project was supported by the Northwest Film Forum and The Andy Warhol Foundation.
Known For
Lena and Vitya, both in their early 20s, are two kids who now have a kid of their own. In the postnatal hospital room, like in limbo, their first team project is to wake their son for a feed. As the new parents repeatedly fail, they have to deal with the irreversible changes in their lives and with each other. Meanwhile, the diaper cake silently sits in the room, like a time bomb.

Following the Alaskan Way Viaduct teardown in Seattle, the film is a cinematic dialogue between concrete and flesh.
