Who can talk about the medals won at the Olympic Games in London, but at the same time knows who Captain Haddock is? Who knows whether Lacan was a hair growth product or a psychoanalyst and can also program their own digital television? Who has déjà vu when leafing through the Encyclopedia Britannica and when reading the interviews with the new Miss Waregem Koerse? Who, oh who, is the smartest person in Flanders, Belgium, Europe, and by extension, the world? That is determined by a fierce battle between three fellow human beings. Every day, someone is eliminated, someone who may not be the smartest, but who is perhaps cherished in their family circle because of their many other talents. The others advance and are joined by a new challenger every day.

Vermist is a Dutch language crime drama produced by Belgian broadcaster VT4 and Netherlands production company Eyeworks. It is broadcast on VT4 and a French language version—Urgence disparitions—is shown by W9. Based on the characters and background of the successful Flemish film Vermist, the first episode was broadcast on March 25, 2008. A second season was broadcast in 2010.

In this singing competition reality series, each series a number of well-known performers are picked and in each episode, one singer is centrally focussed and the remaining artists sing songs by that specific artist. The Voice van Vlaanderen is a Belgian reality singing competition for the Flemish part of Belgium, and which is part of the franchise that started in the Netherlands as The Voice of Holland. It kicked-off on November 25, 2011 on VTM, shortly before the francophone Belgian variant The Voice Belgique went on air. A second season of The Voice van Vlaanderen for the 2012-13 season has started. One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, train the talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner.

Idool is the Belgian version of the Idol series. The series was launched in late 2002 by Belgian television network VTM. The contestants are first narrowed down to 100 contestants, and then down to 30-50 through several auditions and tests by a panel of judges. From this point on, the viewers decide who are in and who are out, and the judges limit themselves to commenting. TV viewers being what they are, the votes are based not solely on the singers vocal performance, but also on his or her looks, clothes, entertainment value, and other factors.

The Voice Kids is a Belgian music talent show for aspiring singers aged 8 to 14, based on the concept of the show The Voice van Vlaanderen. The first broadcast took place on 5 September 2014 on VTM. The first season was won by Mentissa Aziza, the second by Jens Dolleslagers, the third by Katarina Pohlodkova, and the fourth by Jade De Rijcke. A fifth season is expected to premiere in late 2020 after a one-year break.
