Islam El Azzazi

The Maid, a short narrative film, examines the moments in which we are forced to understand that other people are real in the same way that we are. Rasha is an Egyptian housemaid, who is not so skilled at her job. When her suspicions about her employer are confirmed, Rasha must come to terms with her perceptions of trust, duty, and her place within the family household.

She rejects grief as a reaction to loss. Instead confronting her misery face on and pushing herself to the brink, clinging to a flood of magic she experienced as a child as it flows across time from person to person and story to story.

It is an ordinary day for Raouf, who spends his day racing against time and trying to resolve his differences with his fiancée, Nadia, while meditation, memories, and nostalgia are scattered throughout the day.
