After the decisive “Three Battles,” the East China Field Army is ordered to encircle Shanghai. Commander Tang Yunfu’s 300,000-strong KMT garrison readies for a climactic showdown. Under directives to liberate and yet preserve the city, Commander Fang and Commissar Zhang orchestrate a pincer movement, luring Tang’s main force to the suburbs for annihilation while infiltrating Shanghai’s heart. With underground leader Lin Fan’s help, our troops seize territory south of the Suzhou River. The KMT falls back to the north bank, and Liu Yi’s division makes a final stand downtown. Street fighting erupts as our vanguard storms the power plant, city hall, and key installations. Set in 1930s in Northeast China. Three friends attend the high school in Japanese puppet regime in Manchuria. They are forced to study Japanese and learn to live as conquered people. They see that their patriot teacher is arrested, revolutionists are killed, family members are persecuted. They determine to envisage nationalistic pride and make up their minds to fight Japanese aggressors.

In 1946, Chiang Kaishek commits 200,000 troops to an attack on the Communist-held central plains of China. After the PLA main force in the area retreats, the Nationalists also capture the area around the Dabie Mountains. County Party Committee Secretary Liu and county organizations department director Mo Wenjie lead a guerrilla troop against the KMT forces. Will the film belief of the revolutionary cadre be able to overcome not only the enemy, but cold, hunger and betrayal?

A huge earthquake struck the city of Jinfeng in the year of 1976. Liu Xu, the proxy for the Gang of Four, locked down the news of the earthquake in order to gain power for them. Party Secretary Li on the other hand, organized all power to help the local people to fight against the aftershocks. This film originally planned during the last period of cultural revolution, with the subplot of criticizing Gang of Four added after the arrests of them. Shot on the ruins of Tangshan earthquake and finished in August 1977, the film only screened once in Guangzhou before failed to pass the censorship and sealed up forever.
