The film portrays the passengers of a compartment on a long-distance train — people from different social backgrounds — who engage in conversations, argue about various issues, reflect on important and thought-provoking topics, and share memories from their own lives.

Based on the play of the same name by the Uzbek poet, playwright, and composer Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi. Exposing the feudal way of life, the wealthy landowners (bais), the clergy, and Tsarist officials, the film depicts the awakening of class consciousness among working Uzbeks.

Gliding competitions are taking place in one of the border towns of Uzbekistan. An unexpected typhoon blows a glider with schoolchildren Kostya and Rustam into the desert. When their glider crashed on the sand, the guys find a small Firyusa in the cabin under the seat, who really wanted to fly, but they didn't take her. The three of them set off across the desert to the Dead City.
