No one knows that the rich landowner of Borgan is the father of Anne whose parents work on the farm. The landowner's brother has bad times in the city and his son wants to be a farmer. he is secretly engaged to be married to Anne.

April 9, 1940, an aircraft warns Norwegian merchant ships that German naval forces are heading for Norwegian waters. The pilot signals to a Norwegian-flagged ship that responds to shooting at the aircraft. The pilot is hurt but is able to land on the water. He is picked up by a Norwegian boat on his way to Kristiansand. Before he dies, he tells Captain Knut Viker and the governor Harald Bakken if this happened.

Social Democratic election film. Young Lasse is unemployed and drawn to the Communists. However, he comes to the Social Democratic fold after heroically capturing a saboteur. He falls in love with young Greta, whose father is a nimble master tailor who knows how to put both communists and citizens in place.
