Háda János

The story takes place in the Stalinist camps of the 1930s, where the main character, Gleb Nesterov, is trying to escape while they are starving and have no idea who has been captured or why. There is no trace of logic in the camp, although the engineer is obsessed with researching it, as it should be. From one day to the next, Professor Adrián is also captured and interrogated, and they want to extort a confession from him while humiliating him. Moral laws and norms have disappeared here, there is only humiliation, death and starvation.

In the 1850s, according to a Transylvanian legend, a fearsome beast was rampaging in the Retyezat mountains, which was impossible to destroy because of its witchcraft. But Duke Schwarzenberg, the Habsburg governor of Transylvania, a fearless hunter who did not believe in this peasant superstition, decided to personally kill the monster.

Not far from Budapest, in the outskirts of Táborfalva, a board stops the arriving: "Keep out! Entry is dangerous and forbidden!" The Forbidden Zone starts here, the second biggest shooting and drill ground in Hungary, where military field exercises have been performed for one and a half century. In spite of the danger and prohibition, the area is densely populated. Many plant and animals species live their secret lives here, some of them being rare creatures that almost completely disappeared from the cultivated parts of the Hungarian Alföld.
