Born on October 29, 1982, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa (Arabic: أحمد حسين الشرع) is a Syrian politician and former military commander who currently serves as the President of Syria (assuming office in January 2025). He gained international prominence as the leader of the offensive that toppled the 54-year rule of the Assad dynasty in December 2024.
