A Russian mystery miniseries set both in medieval times and in the days of Perestroika.

Set in late-1920s Soviet Union, Ostap Bender and Ippolit "Kisa" Vorobyaninov are after a stash of diamonds hidden in one of the chairs in 12-chair set. They are forced to go on a cross-country chase when the chairs are auctioned off.

The actions of this mystery movie takes both in the past (in medieval times, as the scientists' hallucinations) and in the days of Perestroika.

The hero of the film is in prison, and they are trying to knock out a testimony from him where there is a lot of money - in which country, city, bank, bank account ... And the smart, handsome and courageous Abdulov brazenly and insultingly mocks the investigator and reads Onegin in his cell "a Vietnamese cellmate giving him a massage. The action takes place in pre-revolutionary Russia, during the period when persecution of Jews began. Tevye's already difficult life is further complicated by a series of events that test his faith. Will he be able to withstand all of these difficult blows?
