Biography

Damian Hall is an elite British ultrarunner, outdoor journalist, and climate activist who remarkably picked up long-distance running in his mid-30s. He quickly rose to international prominence, placing fifth at the prestigious Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in 2018, winning the grueling 268-mile winter Montane Spine Race in 2023, and setting numerous Fastest Known Times across the UK. Hall is also a prominent figure at the infamous Barkley Marathons, reaching the final loop in 2023. Off the trails, Hall uses his platform to champion environmental sustainability. He co-founded The Green Runners, competes as a vegan athlete, and avoids air travel to reduce his carbon footprint. The Barkley Strikes Again: The 2026 Barkley Marathons

The 2026 Barkley Marathons featured one of the deepest and most accomplished fields in race history. With elite ultrarunners like Mathieu Blanchard, John Kelly, Max King, Damian Hall, and Sébastien Raichon all on the start line, many wondered if this would finally be the year the course was conquered again. Coming off a brutal 2025 edition that produced no finishers and only a single Fun Run from John Kelly, expectations were uncertain. The talent was undeniable. The preparation was meticulous. But would it be enough to beat this version of the Barkley? In this film, we follow the unfolding drama loop by loop, combining on-the-ground race coverage with historical context and insight from key voices in the Barkley ecosystem, including Lazarus Lake, Keith Dunn, and Carl Laniak. As the race develops, a deeper reality emerges. At Barkley, fitness alone is never the whole story.
