The student Alexei comes home from the Amsterdam University. He interrupted his studies following the news of his father’s death. The young man does not make it in time for the funeral. At the cemetery he meets his elder sister whom he has not seen for quite a long time.

The coronavirus epidemic is closing schools. A teacher from St. Petersburg and his students continue their lessons remotely. Forced isolation makes them almost equal. He no longer stands in front of them while they are sitting. They no longer respond by raising their hand. He may not be distracted by their questions. They can leave the class without asking permission. But they need to be able to understand him. And he must learn a new way of thinking. His past holds an experience of forty years. His future holds them, his students.
