In Al-Batniya neighborhood, a drug dealer owns a wood factory as a cover for his drug trading. His daughter marries a police officer against his will, while his son falls in love with a poor girl whom he marries in secret. But when his father wants to separate them, she seeks revenge.

The film is an adaptation of a novel by Ismåeel Walieddin. The main character, Ahmad, leaves rural eastern Egypt for the city hoping to become economically self-sufficient, gets an apartment for his parents, and obtains a law degree. He and his family are refugees from a town occupied by the Israeli army, Ismaåilia. Ali, the owner of the Malatily Bathhouse, offers to let him stay there for free. Ahmad encounters several characters there, including Naåeema, a prostitute who he becomes obsessed with, and Raouf, a homosexual man.

The divorced Zeenat gets involved with Medhat in a forbidden relationship and then he abandons her. Sayed refuses to marry her even though she is pregnant. Sayed exploits student Hassan's need for money and agrees with him to marry Zeenat a marriage of convenience.

Sana discovers that her husband betrayed her, and travels to Sharm el-Sheikh and there she sees her husband with his mistress Safi, who later discovers that he is married to her customary, to decide to betray him with her new driver Magdy, and events develop

Sina' learns of the numerous affairs her husband Shakir has had with other women. At this time, she gets to know Hashem, and they become increasingly close. Hashem learns of the dysfunctions within Sina’’s family and tries to take advantage of this for his own interests, specially after meeting Arfan, the husband of Sina’s sister. Arfan uses Sina’s sister’s money for his own projects, and tries to pressure his daughter Hoda into marrying a rich Arab man.

(Mustafa) tries to get close to (Nadia), despite the student (Samah)'s attachment to him. (Samah) claims that he assaulted her, and attempts are made to pressure (Mustafa) to marry her. (Karima), who controls the interests of the people, admires (Mustafa) and appoints him as an accountant. For her actions, she courts him and tries to separate him from (Nadia). (Mustafa) discovers the violations committed by (Karima) and seeks to report these violations to the police.

It tells stories of webs of drug dealing, rivalry, revenge and murder among the residents of al batneyya, a place so corrupt and well bonded among each other, even the police struggles with it.

A dramatic eventful story of ethical and social arguments starts when Fathi returns from Kuwait to find himself in turmoil of treacherous plot of greed and indecency committed by his mother-in-law and her wicked lover after having murdered Fathi's father.

When Shaikhon marries Dalal, a belly dancer, they are blessed with two kids. Shaikhon steals Dalal's money to buy the club where she works. Dalal gets back at him and reports him to the police who have him imprisoned. When he comes out of prison full of vengeance, his past ghosts still haunt him.
