Actors Bernard David Jones, Dyllon Burnside, Thomas Hobson, and Jenifer Lewis bring to life the words of Black non-binary author George Matthew Johnson’s transparent and sparkling memoir, aided by director Nathan Hale Williams’ visual poetry. Tackling issues of Black masculinity and Black queerness in relationship to Blackness, each character represents Johnson at different stages of their life, chronicling their story of growing up and challenging gender identity norms, as well as learning to adapt to HIV/AIDS.

Burden tells the story of Bennett Lewis (Nic Few), a highly successful and highly educated family man who in spite of his success still has to deal with the perils of being a Black man in America.

In 2006, the independent film "Dirty Laundry" emerged as a powerful collaboration between Black gay men and Black women, confronting homophobia within a Southern family in Georgia. This groundbreaking project served as a conversation starter addressing homophobia and HIV/AIDS in the Black community. "Come Together: Untold Stories of Unity" highlights the urgent need again for solidarity between Black women and Black gay men, showcasing their transformative alliance against systemic barriers and legislative assaults on LGBTQ rights. Amidst escalating anti-LGBTQ legislation and attacks on women's rights, this film underscores the imperative of collective action for liberation.
