Filmed during one night in July 2025 by forty filmmakers and hundreds of citizens, The Illusion of a Quiet Night paints a vast collective portrait of war-torn Ukraine. Between fear and exhaustion, moments of joy and scenes of the ordinary day to day, we watch as life goes on in spite of everything, witnessing the resilience of a nation gripped by uncertainty.

The war in Yugoslavia attracted the attention of the whole world. That's where the first one went in 1992 peacekeeping contingent of Ukraine. But bringing peace and salvation they could not imagine what enemy will have to face.

Dmytro is a lifeguard in the Kyiv beach patrol. In addition to carrying out his duties such as saving drowning people, he has to find a way to communicate with a mute to whom a stranger has left his belongings and has gone missing, with teenagers who like to jump off bridges, with the mayor who has come to take a look at the new jet skis. Will Dmytro be able to save everyone and reduce the tragic drowning statistics on Kyiv's beaches?

Sketches from the overcrowded beaches of Kyiv, where a lot of people die every year. The spotlight is on Dmytro, a beach patrol supervisor, who wants to change the horrible statistics. Will he succeed?
