Biography
Cornelis 'Cor' Johannes Lemaire (1908-1981) was a Dutch pianist, conductor and composer. He was best known for his collaborations with artists like Louis Davids, Annie M.G. Schmidt and Wim Kan.
Known For

Twelve year old 'Boefje' spends most of his time in the alleys, on rooftops and in the harbor of Rotterdam. A local clergyman takes pity on him and attempts to teach him good manners.
Boefje

After being released from prison a career criminal wants to start a new life. To finance this new life he decides to rob a small-town bank during a funfair. Meanwhile, he's trying to get rid of a women who can tie him to a previous crime.
Fair in the Rain

An out of work engineer is hired as the private chauffeur of a rich playboy, and has to drive to Vlissingen to pick up the latter's fiancée. On the way back from Vlissingen, the car breaks down and the engineer and the fiancée travel to Rotterdam to get some spare parts -- a trip full of amorous entanglements and mistaken identities.

Fisherman’s widow Kniertje urges her two younger sons to set sail on the ‘Op hoop van zegen’, a heavily insured floating wreck which duly goes down in a storm. Kniertje is left behind, alone and lonely. Based on Herman Heijermans’ socialist-inspired Dutch theatre classic.
The Good Hope

Compilation of cabaret songs and sketches. Louis Davids sings and acts with Sylvain Poons, Fien de la Mar and Heintje Davids, among others. The film includes such numbers as ‘Naar de Artis’, ‘De volkstuinkoningin’, ‘De draaiende Venus’ and ‘Hollands Hollywood’. Every song was subtitled so that audiences could sing along.
