Biography
Sinéad Collopy is a screenwriter from the West of Ireland, born into a working class Limerick household and currently residing in Co. Clare. Having spent nearly 20 years working in Community Development and Child Welfare Services, she's inspired be the stories and voices of seldom held communities. Her short script PADDY, received funding from Creative Ireland in 2019. PADDY was produced by Sidhe Films/Bogueart Films and directed by Róisín Kearney. It had it's world premier at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2020 and won Best Short Film at the Catylst International Film Festival in 2021. Sinéad's film Salvation Calling was selected out of 7,000 submissions by the BBC as part of the Interconnected shorts series in 2020 staring Ian McElhinny ( Derry Girls, Game of Thrones, The Split) and Aimee Richardson. Sinéad's feature script '77 was selected by Screen Ireland for development funding as part of the Spotlight Development Scheme in 2020. Sinead has been working in various TV writers rooms in 2021/2022, writing episodes for award winning TV thriller Smother, Season 3 (BBC Studios & Treasure Entertainment) as well as Hidden Assets Season 2 (Saffron Moon Productions). Her TV drama Every Five Miles, a harrowing tale about human trafficking in Ireland, aired on the national broadcaster RTE2 on 3rd November 2022 as part of the Storyland series. Sinéad is also a Mum to three young children and works for Tusla Child and Family Agency in Ireland. Sinéad is also working on two more feature scripts and a mini-series project.
