Sweden, 1849. A poverty-stricken family decides to move to America in the hope of finding a better and more prosperous life. Although they know the journey will be dangerous and the pressure of facing a new life in a strange and wild land is great, they are determined to succeed.

Atmospheric Lucia celebration from Sala in Västmanland, with a Lucia procession in Sätra Brunn church where singers from Sjöviks Folk High School and Sala Youth Choir participate. We also get solo singing down from the silver mine as well as music from the mining village and Brunnsgården. This year's Lucia is called Lova Fredling.

Within the walls of a wintry Visby, this year’s Lucia spreads atmosphere and warmth with choirs from Sankta Maria Youth Choir, Voices of Hope, and the Gotland Boys’ Choir. In the ruins of St. Karin’s and Helge And, Christmas carols will ring out, and we will also enjoy several soloists, the Gotland Wind Quintet, and a children’s choir in the historic surroundings.
