Five days before the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane , Philippe Gerbier, an officer in the Free French Forces , is parachuted in near the village . He is to lead a mission for the Resistance in preparation for the D-Day landings . There, he is reunited with Marie, his childhood sweetheart.
