After years of trying to start a family, Robert and Lauren Anderson are excited to be pregnant. They share the news with Robert's sister Grace who runs a small clinic with her husband Clint. Despite Grace's reassurances and motherly example, Lauren fears she can't maintain her athletic boutique and adequately raise a family. Modest success buoys her hopes, until the storms of life converge.

Set against the backdrop of sandlot baseball in the 1960s, a boy faces a group of neighborhood bullies and wins the heart of the girl of his dreams.
