Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, is an icon of children's TV. But when his family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale or fable or puppet will guide him through this crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. Metadata is a short film that reckons with the artificiality of narratives and challenges the audience with their perception of onscreen reality as truth. Embedded within the multiplicity of narratives is a story about Erin, a young burnout editor who has to navigate the travails of an overbearing Arthouse Director and finding freedom within her claustrophobic universe.

Guoqiang is a socially awkward Instagram poet and occasionally posts his self penned haikus on his Instagram page. In order to get more attention for his haiku, Guoqiang decides to go to local author Augustine Chua’s writing panel to get his feedback. When he eventually gets the chance to ask questions during the Q&A, he comes off confusing instead, creating mass awkwardness.

The intertidal zone where land and sea meet separates the island into two during low tide. A butoh dancer embodies a castaway doll and performs in a shifting landscape of disappearing bodies of water from intertidal phenomenons. Butoh, also known as the ‘dance of utter darkness’, is a post-war Japanese avant- garde art form. Like the elemental changes of states from water to vapour, she senses something present but unable to be seen. A more invisible performer takes precedence, the PD150, an attribute to forgotten and lost objects. Memory becomes the act of ‘vanishing’ and follows the sensation of ‘missing’ through a span of space and time with objects, locations and people.

Olga is a young French horn player who, while practicing in her room, encounters her phobia — a deathly fear of moths. As night falls, a series of mishaps fall upon her and she is forced to confront the moth at every turn, navigating through the night with severe anxiety and terror in hopes of returning to her French horn practice.
