Manuel travels to the small fishing village where his recently deceased wife, Paula, spent her childhood. There he meets Rosa, the owner of a restaurant; Héctor, whom he entrusts with rebuilding his wife's dilapidated family home; Toto, a colorful and helpful fisherman who was Paula's schoolmate; and Julia, a young architect who lost her daughter shortly after birth, and with her all hope of happiness.

Jacinto runs a farm-home for homeless children. The rain ruins the harvest, the foundation that helps them abandons them, most of the boys run away. The arrival of the Minister of Social Welfare turns on a light of hope. But it soon goes out. The minister is fleeing persecuted by a corruption case. It is then that Jacinto triggers a series of events that will finally change the state of affairs.
