A love story between Galih and Marlina, who happens to look very much like Ratna, Galih’s former lover. However, as Galih’s relationship with Marlina begins to grow, he unexpectedly meets Ratna again, which creates distance between him and the jealous Marlina.

Kabayan undergoes a long journey to get his soul mate, Nyi Iteung, since Abah, the latter’s father, does not agree to have a son-in-law from the village. Kabayan has to go to the city to find his luck, assisted by his friend, Joni Kemod and his master, Nora Nori. Now, Kabayan, as a city person, is coming home to propose to Nyi Iteung. The film ends with Abah's acceptance of Kabayan for what he is.

Kabayan is influenced by a friend to go to the city. In the city, a girl, Saribanon, whose father has been helped by Kabayan when he is robbed, secretly falls in love with him. But he already has Iteung, his girlfriend in the village. The story of that relationship, combined with his adventure in the city, finally ends with Iteung and Kabayan’s marriage.

Benand and Joescano want to buy Kabayan and Abah's land. They promise Abah that they would arrange a meeting with his favorite singer in the city, if he agrees to sell the land. When Abah eventually agrees, Kabayan refuses. To make Kabayan change his mind, Abah forbids Kabayan seeing Iteung, Abah's daughter who's also Kabayan's girlfriend.
