The film focuses on composer Ādolfs Skulte (1909-2000) and his life story as told through his own memories, archival materials, and music. In interviews filmed in the late 1990s, the maestro recounts his life and recalls his childhood, his studies with Professor Jāzeps Vītols, his work as a teacher, his move from Kiev to Latvia, and his most memorable students – Imants Kalniņš, Mārtiņš Brauns, Vilnis Šmīdbergs and others – the creation of the ballet Brīvības sakta (1946-1950) and other important events in his life, which culminated in the Grand Music Award for lifetime achievement in 1999. Ādolfs Skulte is filmed by his son, cinematographer Gvido Skulte, and the composer's wife Helēna and grandson, artist Kristaps Skulte, also play an important role in the film.

Prayer for a Home shows how everyone needs shelter and a home – people in Latvia, Europe and troubled regions throughout the world. The film relates the story of the distinguished Latgalian poet Anna Rancāne and her family – her daughter Terēze, her grandson Daniel, and Daniel’s father, Dara Muhammad Ali – who are trying to stick together despite unfortunate circumstances. Even though Terēze and Anna are Catholic, while Dara is a Muslim from Kurdistan, their love transcends religious, national and cultural prejudice. However, due to circumstances beyond their control, the family is not destined to remain together, despite doing everything they can to stay close.

The film is a visual, imaginative message about painting, about the attitude of artists Helēna Heinrihsone, Ivars Heinrihsons, and Boriss Bērziņš towards their work, about what an artist really paints on canvas, what these images, visions, and impulses are, and where they come from.

A fun and exciting story about Christmas as an adventurous adventure – the daughters carefully prepare for the holiday, set the table and puck, but then a bunch of stilts invade the house and fascinate everything with them in the Dance Carousel, in which all the masquerade characters usual in the traditions of Latvian folklore swirl.

Influenced by the mood of the winter solstice, a story is raised about the approach of lonely creatures in the bustle of the holiday, in the mysterious light of the campfire flame and the Moon. Snow is falling, everyone is dancing, and everyone is finding a mate. But there is Christmas!
