The show was meant to compete with those on West German television. To this end it was fairly successful even attracting a following in parts of West Germany which could receive Eastern TV. Its production values were high. Apart from song and dance numbers and appearances from East German celebrities, almost every broadcast featured well-known stars from the west, often after their popularity had peaked in their home countries.

Inge Karsten receives an unexpected visit from her former student friend Margit from the West. She is even more surprised to hear that she is married to her stepbrother Herbert, who was long thought to be missing and whom she had almost forgotten. He last lived in Canada. This presents Inge's husband Horst, who has an important job as a military pilot, with a conflict of conscience. The situation is even more serious than it seems at first glance. In truth, Margit is an agent and the whole story is a staged game by the West German secret service...

Using a crystal for mind reading he uncovers some improprieties and moral weaknesses in the "Beautiful future" professed by VEB ("Volkseigener Betrieb" – "State Owned Holdings").

This comedic musical tells the story of Gabi, a young hairdresser from the Baltic coast who desperately wants to be a jockey. One day, she packs her bags, drives to Hoppegarten, and is soundly rejected by the head coach. Gabi doesn't want to give up, and in order to at least have a roof over her head, she rushes into a marriage with the seemingly nice Freddie. However, this marriage soon proves to be her second rejection, as Freddie openly dislikes the fact that she wants to be a jockey.

Günter and Gudrun Piesold are very busy with their careers as a TV comedian and an actress, so Grandma takes care of household chores and childcare. But when Grandma remarries, the Piesolds are faced with chaos at home and a burning question: Who will take care of the household?

An American transport squadron led by former General Lee supports the French colonial army in Vietnam in return for high pay. Originally their mission was only to help the wounded, but as the advance of the Vietnamese liberation army puts the French under increasing pressure, they also fly ammunition - in return for even more money and in defiance of international law. Chief pilot Bryk refuses to fly, secretary Flessy becomes the unscrupulous general's mistress after one lover after another fails to return from a mission, and the rest of the squadron is shot down during an ammunition flight. The French army shows up at the camp to arrest the interpreter Thao for espionage. Bryk rescues her and flees with her to the liberated part of Vietnam.

Czech tourist Jelinek decides to take a ride on the "Ferris wheel" in Berlin, and as a result he lags behind the train and is left without his belongings and documents.

Small town policeman Holms suffers from a rather unusual problem: Because of the low crime rate, there is simply not enough to do for him. Deadly bored, he sinks into the depths of depression and requests the help of a psychiatrist. But his imagination is far more effective: In his dreams, he chases gangsters in London. Finally, some small-time crooks find a way to help "their" policeman out of his emotional misery: They steal a memorial from the market square and thus help Holms to a spectacular case.

It's Saturday lunchtime in a small town near Munich and there's not much going on. The local bank is already closed, doors and windows are barred. The few passers-by in the main shopping street do not notice that a violent crime is being committed behind these windows. When the police later take up the investigation, a young bank employee becomes the only witness. His statements seem contradictory. And yet it is several other people who now have to struggle with conflicts of conscience. The more gaps in the police's chain of evidence, the more serious the decision to tell the truth and risk their own happiness. A new pupil has joined the seventh grade and - as is often the case - is met with scepticism. What is more: Mathias' classmates are angry because he is frequently late, goes home early and, on top of it, performs badly at school. They have to acknowledge, however; that he is very gutsy. This proves especially true when it becomes a question of passing a dangerous test: who can hold out longest in the ice cellar?

The East German scientist Professor Gerlach has made a significant discovery with his research into how a new, even stronger pesticide can be protected against ineffectiveness through hydrolysis. This fact has not gone unnoticed by other interested nations. At the International Congress of Chemists in Geneva, a power struggle broke out between agents of the BND and the CIA over a preparation that had been smuggled into Switzerland without the knowledge of Dr. Werner, Gerlach's GDR representative and assistant, and which the enemies hoped would shed light on the composition of the invention.

Real part: A puppet animation film studio. The director, cameraman, animators and lighting technicians set up a scene in which a streetcar car with passengers appears. The recording begins, the animator moves the puppets phase by phase. Trick part: An old woman gets on the streetcar at a stop and can't find a seat. Fritzchen deliberately looks away so that he doesn't have to get up. All the puppets look at him indignantly. Real part: The scene is over. It's closing time and the dolls are put in a cupboard. The staff leave the studio. Trick part: The puppet cupboard comes to life. Fritzchen apologizes to the old woman and blames the animator and director for his behaviour. He calls on the puppets to shoot the scene again. This happens, and now he does offer his seat to the little mother. Real part : The doorman notices a glow of light in the studio, opens the door, but sees nothing unusual. The dolls have returned to their cupboard. Shaking his head, the doorman returns to his box.

Germany 1922 during the Weimar Republic: Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau signs the Treaty of Rapallo between Germany and the Soviet Union. German national, conservative forces then speak of betrayal and anti-Semitic tones become loud. Plans for murder Rathenaus are forged in the vicinity of the Freikorps. The young engineer Horst Bergmann learns about the preparations of the assassination attempt and tries to warn Rathenau.

The count, an evil robber baron, appropriates the last of his peasants' cows. Till Eulenspiegel hires himself out as a tower blower to the wild journeyman and causes the count and his cronies to blindly leave the castle by raising a false alarm.

In the courtyard of a royal castle stands a well from which the residents must fetch their water. The king is very displeased by this; what annoys him most is the farmhand Hans, who appears at the well every day, whistling a cheerful tune. The princess likes the tune and asks Hans to teach it to her. This drives the king’s anger to a fever pitch.
