SOKO Leipzig is a German police procedural television programme, a spin-off of the earlier German police programme SOKO 5113. It was first broadcast on 31 January 2001, on German television channel ZDF. On 12 November 2008, the first part of a two-part crossover between SOKO Leipzig and British police procedural The Bill was aired, with the same version being shown on both ZDF and British television channel ITV1.

The Bambi, often called the Bambi Award and stylised as BAMBI, is a German award presented annually by Hubert Burda Media to recognize excellence in international media and television to personalities in the media, arts, culture, sports, and other fields "with vision and creativity who affected and inspired the German public that year", both domestic and foreign. First held in 1948, it is the oldest media award in Germany. The trophy is named after Felix Salten's book Bambi, A Life in the Woods and its statuettes are in the shape of the novel's titular fawn character. They were originally made of porcelain until 1958, when the organizers switched to using gold, with the casting done by the art casting workshop of Ernst Strassacker in Süßen.

East Germany in the early 1960s. Lotte Reinhardt, a 26-year-old shipyard worker, has a dream: she wants to become an astronaut. However, her boyfriend Holger informs on the group to the Stasi. Shortly thereafter, he is dead. The murder is pinned on Lotte. Her only option is to flee to the West. In Augsburg, she falls in love with Oskar, a scientist on her grandfather’s team. But Stasi officer Moll tracks Lotte down in the West and offers her a treacherous deal.
