Joseph Batista, a taciturn yet deeply humanistic police officer, has returned to Marseille after thirty years of a brilliant career in Paris. He has a good reason for coming back: he has just discovered that he has a daughter and a grandson he has never met. Lyna, who has become an investigating magistrate, is determined to make him pay for his absence. Meanwhile, Samy Kaddourian, a brilliant but disorganized lawyer carrying an enormous mental load as a single father raising three children, defends the very suspects Batista is trying to put behind bars.
