Author Max Zorn, now in his early 60s, is on a promotional book tour in New York when he encounters the woman he could never forget. They spend a weekend together, seventeen years have passed. Can there be a future for their past?

Martin, Caoimhín and Dennis have been recognised for balancing traditional rigour with an energy that seems entirely new. Thomas has been identified with the independent rock scene for his work with artists as diverse as the National, Glen Hansard, and Antony and the Johnsons. Iarla has made many ground breaking recordings with the Afro Celt Sound System, his distinctive voice venturing far beyond the boundaries of any one genre. The film not only depicts the Gloaming working together in Grouse Lodge studios in County Westmeath, Ireland, but also reveals the profound connection between them as players and as players with their audience.

Gilsenan’s latest work is a non-narrative film, inspired by a new translation of the seminal Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō by the Irish translator, poet and scholar Andrew Fitzsimons. It is – in equal parts – a journey through contemporary Japan, a cinematic act of psycho-geography, a meditation on the devastating impact of climate change and a profound reflection on the meaning of ‘home’ in today’s uneasy global world.
