An old postman has spent his whole life delivering mail to the mountain of Hunan and is about to retire, his only son due to take over his duties.

With the continuous advancement of artillery fire in 1947, Yangquan was liberated, and the Chinese Communist Party established its own city in ruins, becoming the first people's city created by the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. The whole film takes the construction of the city as the main line, with the elimination of enemy agents and personal emotions as the secondary line, and narrates the liberation and construction of Yangquan as a reference for other cities across the country. It has shaped the revolutionary heroism of the Communists represented by Ren Gong and Liu Shuihe in the process of building the people's city, and the responsibility of not forgetting the original intention and keeping the mission in mind

Observations of three varied corners of China’s garment industry: workers in a large-scale production line factory; a designer who rallies against the mass-machine-production of clothes and has created the eponymous hand-made collection called ‘Useless’ (Wuyong) for Paris Fashion Week; and finally the simple life of increasingly out-of-work tailors in small town Fengdang.

Inspired by real-life figures such as Mao Yongkuan, former Party Branch Secretary of Weiyuan Brigade in Youyu County, Deep Affection tells the moving story of generations of grassroots Party members and local officials who led the people of Youyu in their decades-long effort to plant trees and transform barren land into green hills. Through a renewed cinematic lens, the film portrays the enduring “Youyu Spirit” — a testament to perseverance, dedication, and collective strength. By illuminating the lives of ordinary yet steadfast individuals, Deep Affection reveals the profound sense of responsibility, mission, and human warmth that define China’s grassroots leadership.
