Biography
Dominic Bekaert’s first feature film, AN ERRAND, 83 min, 2024, was selected at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2025, and won best Editing and Sound design at the 20th Cinemalaya edition. It also received Best Director, Best First Film, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Original Soundtrack by the Society of Filipino Film Reviewers. Through ZOOPRAXI STUDIO, founded in 20218 with his producer Clémentine Comoy, Dominic has conceptualized, directed, shot and edited numerous music videos, advertising and short films -including WILDEST DREAMS (33min) for Nadine Lustre, the Philippines’ first visual album, recipient of awards from MYX Philippines, and the International Music Video Awards (IMVA). From 2016 to 2018 he led the National Film Archives, under the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). His time as head of the Archives - during which he supervised the digitization of Filipino masterpieces - deepened his knowledge of the Philippines’ cinema history, and his relationship with the local audiovisual landscape. Holder of a B.A. in film production at ESEC (Paris, France) and a M.A. in Film Preservation at INA (National Institute of Audiovisual, Paris France), Dominic recently attended Asghar Farhadi’s masterclass in Bologna, directing a short film under his mentorship.
