Nanohana no Oki

Cameramen and women discuss the craft and art of cinematography and of the "DP" (the director of photography), illustrating their points with clips from 100 films, from Birth of a Nation to Do the Right Thing. Themes: the DP tells people where to look; changes in movies (the arrival of sound, color, and wide screens) required creative responses from DPs; and, these artisans constantly invent new equipment and try new things, with wonderful results. The narration takes us through the identifiable studio styles of the 30s, the emergence of noir, the New York look, and the impact of Europeans. Citizen Kane, The Conformist, and Gordon Willis get special attention.

Dear Daisy,

This work shows ocean trash on an off-season beach. Many people think it is very unpleasant. It is a serious environmental problem. However, surprisingly it is also captivating and looks like a kind of art work. Human amorality, irresponsibility and big ocean waves collaborate to create these objects. (V-tape)
On the Border
An unusual, conceptual documentary that combines the director’s fascination with fungi with modern, audiovisual technologies. Using photogrammetry from hundreds of images, the assembled 3D models document the maturation of four domestically grown species of fungi, their incredibly fast growth, and also their sculptural and artistic qualities.
FUNGUS
The documentation of the river focuses on a set of rounded stones whose moving contours, flowing around invisible obstacles and pouring out of thin lines into changing surfaces, have been constructed from thousands of photographs using 3D graphics techniques.
Contour

Entranced by their ever-changing shapes, he observes how they intensify under the summer sun, creating a vivid contrast. Each silhouette holds unique qualities, seemingly containing the town's secrets.
