Une famille formidable is a French romantic comedy television series broadcast since September 17, 1992. It details the goings on of a family, and follows them as they grow up. As of 2008, the cast is the same as the 1992 cast, an unusual feat for a program with a run of this length. In 2012, during the broadcast of the season 9 is celebrated twenty years of the series.

When on April 6, 1983, just a few months after the arrest and extradition of Klaus Barbie on French soil, Sabine Zlatin found herself alone in Izieu to commemorate the roundup of April 6, 1944, only one question arose: after her, who will maintain the flame of the memory of the 44 Jewish children arrested and deported that day? Sabine's concern is all the more acute when she learns that the Izieu roundup cannot be included in the trial of the former Nazi, for lack of evidence. Nina's Home takes place between September 1944 and January 1946 in an orphanage housed in a chateau outside Paris. At the outset, the country residence is run by Nina who has a core population of French Jewish children whose parents are probably dead. Food is scarce. News of the Concentration Camps hasn't hit yet, but some months later, a contingent of youths arrive form the liberated camps. The children are a disparate, wild, damaged group and conflicts ensue. Nina's challenge is to help them make their first delicate moves toward the future and in the process restore all of them, including herself, to life.

During the German occupation of France, a young woman - Marie - finds a Jewish boy in her room. His parents and other Jewish neighbors have been just been deported, but Maurice (the boy) escaped. Marie decides to hide him, secretly.
