A man is found shot dead in the trunk of a car. Four fingers on one hand have been cut off. The man was a co-owner of an online poker company that quickly grew into a multi-million dollar business before going bankrupt. Shortly thereafter, another co-owner is found murdered. The third and final co-owner, Sanna, is still alive but lives under constant threat. The police eventually find three of the first victim's severed fingers, but where is the fourth finger? Who will the killer send the last finger to? And why were the fingers severed? The investigation leads Irene Huss into a world unknown to her, of expensive luxury cars and magnificent villas in exclusive locations, where Russian caviar is an everyday food and the champagne is genuine, expensive, and constantly flowing. On a personal level, Irene is convinced that her husband Krister is having an affair.

On a beach in Gothenburg found parts of a dismembered man's body. The only thing that is going on, a tattoo on the torso. Irene Huss finds similar previous cases that will take her to Copenhagen, where she is forced to look for a friend's daughter who disappeared. Likfyndet will be the prelude to more nasty murders that lead Irene to Copenhagen's underworld.

When it becomes clear that a biker gang is involved, the investigation gets even more complicated and Irene finds herself tracking down a shrewd and dangerous murderer among ex-millionaires, motorcycle gangs, drug dealers, and blackmailers. At the same time, she has to deal with everyday life and a teenage daughter who has decided to join a gang of skinheads with Neo-Nazi tendencies.

Meanwhile, a lady gets murdered in the archipelago, and at first it seems like the cases have nothing in common. Irene's investigation of the murder case leads her back far in time where secrets which are forgotten long ago come to the surface again. Irene's hard work gets even more complicated when she finds out that her daughter is a bully in school.
