Due to a broken getaway car, three Russian jewel thieves are forced to take shelter in an empty Viennese coffee house. They knock out the waiter and call their fourth accomplice. Ten minutes until the new car arrives! Unfortunately two policemen enter the cafe and take a seat. As the only people present, the villains are mistaken for waiters - with fatal consequences.

A group of film students meets and discusses fundamental questions: "Do you believe the future will be better than the past?", "Why? Why not?". Meanwhile, images of the filmmaking process behind this film are also captured. Its own creation is documented. And within this process, doubts emerge: about the film itself, the meaningfulness of the project, the chosen shot size, the ability to express oneself effectively in front of a camera.

In 2017 I saw a film called "Hana Chirinu" in Bologna, at a festival. It was only one of many cinematic encounters I've had with Japanese cinema over the years, yet this one stuck with me in particular. Since then I have realised how hard it is to see the film outside of Japan. I have decided to send its maker, a filmic letter through time and space.
